At the beggining of summer, I felt inspired to do a floral-themed beer can design. It was a personal project made with the intent of having fun and practicing my design and illustration abilities.

I started with pencil sketches, experimenting with various shapes and compositions.

I then continued the sketching process in Photoshop, giving a chance to a few ideas before choosing to go forward with this one.

As I worked on the illustration, I realized that the roots kind of looked like letters. I thought maybe I could do something fun with that, integrating the name of the beer, "La Floraison" in the roots. It was a challenge to retain the organic feeling of the vegetation while trying to implement the letters through it. Still, I went forward with the idea and added a more conventional type underneath, for readability, as you can see in the final design here :

I observed some real beer cans and took inspiration from that to add text and details to decorate the can in a credible way.

I then brought the design in 3D space, wrapping it around a free can model I had downloaded a while back. I used Autodesk Maya/Arnold for this part. I modeled the flowers based on my drawings, did some basic shading, lighting and animation, and voilà!
